Huawei Honor Smart Glasses leaked, launching November 24

A pair of smart glasses toting the ‘Honor’ branding have leaked to the net, reportedly ahead of a November 24 unveiling.

Honor is Huawei’s spin-off brand launched earlier this year. The sideshow firm already has a few smartphones under its belt - namely the Honor 6 and the Honor 3C.

The new specs are still a bit of a mystery at this point, although Huawei’s event should tell all in three days time.

According to the leaks, the Honor-stamped eyewear will rock a 5-megapixel camera, Android 4.4 KitKat, and a 640 x 480 display.

It’s unclear why Huawei has opted for Android 4.4 instead of the newer Android 5.0 Lollipop. Our best guess is that they’ve spent a solid chunk of time developing the software for these things, and they haven’t had time to rejig the code for Lollipop just yet.

As well as what’s listed above, there’s also expected to be a raft of sensors built into the specs, including one for gesture support.

There’s also much talk of the smart glasses being directly linked to your smartphone, much like a large portion of smartwatches on offer right now.

While we don’t know how far this smartphone integration will go, there’s a good chance we’ll see features like message notifications, mapping, and call alerts.

This latest Honor fare seems poised to take on Google Glass directly. Glass is currently available for £1000 here in the UK, but it should become available on the mass market for a cheaper price sometime next year.
